JAMBI-INDEPENDENT.CO.ID  - During the Covid-19 pandemic, the applicable distance learning system is the home learning system (BDR). Parents play an important role in ensuring their children's learning success.

To implement this program, of course the school, committee, teachers, parents, and the community have prepared this lesson plan in advance. Starting from the preparation of SOPs, data collection on facility ownership for distance learning programs by means of online or offline learning, as well as forms of parental assistance to their children.

It is the parents who have the most roles in this program. With all its limitations and strengths, parents hold the title of learning companion for children from home.

Parents are likened to teachers' assistants

The BDR implementation which lasted for a few months, was not optimal and focused. There were many obstacles such as the lack of understanding of parents about how to be a learning companion for their children.

How to manage the study time, while parents have other activities. There is no transparency between parents and the school regularly. Meanwhile teachers experience problems in their teaching practices. So that it still teaches students a lot of tasks. All are just starting out, so many experience obstacles.

The impact that occurred during the BDR program was that there were children who got better results than before during BDR, maybe because they got full support from their parents, the children became much more comfortable learning.

Meanwhile, there are children who are bored and even stressed by the learning they face, because it is too difficult to understand the material presented by the teacher, so they feel frustrated, and choose not to be active in learning activities. There are even parents who are more stressed about their children during BDR.

The occurrence of parental violence against children is a manifestation of the lack of good communication between parents and the school, committee, and other related parties.

Parents feel overwhelmed and tired of themselves in serving their children's learning demands.

Difficulty using the application, understanding the material provided, made parents not accept the existing rules. It is true of the words of the wise that many parents are not ready to be parents for their own children.

What kind of learning will ensure that everything will go in an organized manner?

A planned BDR program is proven by complete documents starting from planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.

Plan well

Through the PINTAR Tanoto Foundation Program, I received distance learning training, so that as the principal I could design the best possible distance learning for teachers and students, Tuesday (29/9/2020).

As an initial stage, the school, committee, parents and the community should know and understand the planning for BDR preparation.

Schools also provide motivation, and opportunities for teachers to gain knowledge to teach children from home through related institutions, both formal and school partner institutions, which train quality improvement and good practices in implementing BDR.

Then in the implementation of BDR, it must be guided by the agreed planning. Schools should pay attention to the selection of materials that are in accordance with government recommendations in ensuring children's learning comfort while learning from home.

The material for instilling character values should be prioritized, because not all parents master certain fields of knowledge. It could be that parents are angry with their limited knowledge, so that it becomes a trigger for their frustration.

Build Intense Communication

Intense communication between parents and schools is the main key in this joint practice. Schools should not be independent, and must open the faucet to always monitor if there are problems in parenting.

In increasing their strength, parents must also strengthen their spiritual mentality by communicating with the creator.

The goal is to have a positive attitude towards the BDR program. Any risk can be accepted gracefully. Schools and parents should take advantage of the communication group actively.

Through WAG the association which presents committees, heads of association, principals, teachers who teach, of course, can evaluate, and follow up on any obstacles that occur.

The role that the school takes should not fully trust in parenting. Given that parents have different backgrounds. Schools must monitor children through student data. Thus of course it will help in inherent service and monitoring.

It must be understood by all parties that this is a great practice even though it is non-physical.

The risk may not be seen today, it could be in the next 10 years. What happens to the fate of generations is today's work.

Therefore, monitoring is mandatory for program success. Through close monitoring, it can help parents or guardians of students who are constrained by mentoring, and can also improve the practice of distance learning by teachers. Hopefully we are all entrusted with this big task.
